Children's sizes and safety
Children's clothing has its own safety rules, and they are planned into the order before production:
- US: clothing designed mainly for children aged 12 and under needs third-party testing by a CPSC-accepted laboratory and a Children's Product Certificate from the importer
- US: hood and neck drawstrings on children's upper outerwear in sizes 2T to 12 are a substantial product hazard, and waist and bottom drawstrings in sizes 2T to 16 are limited
- US: accessible components may not contain more than 100 ppm of lead
- EU: children's clothing must meet the General Product Safety Regulation, (EU) 2023/988, and EN 14682 is the European standard on cords and drawstrings on children's clothing

Planning around the school year
Work back from the first day of term. The samples take about two to three weeks — proto 5–7 days, fit 3–5 days, pre-production 5–7 days — then fabric and production take 15–30 days to ex-factory, for orders up to 10,000 pieces. Add the transit time we give with the quote, and the time the laboratory needs for children's safety testing, before the uniforms reach the school or the shop.
