How to start a clothing brand without a huge first order
Start with one or two simple products, write a clear tech pack, approve a sample, and order the minimum in one or two colours. Add your identity with woven labels, hangtags and embroidery instead of custom fabric. That keeps your first order small, fast and low-risk.
1. Pick one hero product
A hoodie or a heavyweight tee is the easiest start. Simple to make, easy to brand, and quick to reorder.
2. Write a tech pack
Measurements, fabric, colours, trims, labels and packing. The clearer it is, the closer your first quote is to the real price.
3. Approve a sample
Check fit, fabric and finish. Wash it several times. Nothing should go into production until you are happy.
4. Order small
One or two colours, at the minimum. Learn what sells, then reorder.
5. Brand it
Woven neck label, printed care label, hangtag and one embroidered logo make a basic garment feel like yours.
